Oh! Padel Brings the World’s Fastest-Growing Sport to Stanford

South Africa, 25 September 2025: The Overberg is set to serve up something new and exciting this October with the opening of Oh! Padel, a vibrant new venue dedicated to padel, the fastest-growing sport worldwide. Launching alongside the only eco-marine Hermanus Whale Festival on Friday, 03 October, the venue promises to welcome both locals and tourists with a unique blend of sport, community, and lifestyle.

Padel, often described as a cross between tennis and squash, has taken the world by storm, with exponential growth, and over 25 million players, and South Africa is quickly catching on. With its fun, social format and easy-to-learn style, padel is drawing players of all ages and abilities. Oh! Padel aims to make the sport accessible to Stanford and the surrounding community and visitors and tourists alike, with facilities designed for everyone, from first-timers to seasoned competitors.

“At Oh! Padel, our goal is simple: to bring people together through the joy of padel,” says Founders, Linda and Heidi. “We’re not just opening a sports venue, we’re building a welcoming community where fun comes first, teamwork wins, and everyone can feel part of something bigger.”

The Stanford venue will feature state-of-the-art courts, a Padel Pro Shop, and the Oh! Yum coffee and snack truck, making it a destination for both play and relaxation.  Aligned with Oh! Padel’s values of Fun, Teamwork, Professionalism, Community Spirit, and Always Learning, the venue will also host group sessions, open days for locals and specials throughout the year to encourage more people to experience the sport.

The launch coincides with the Hermanus Whale Festival, one of the busiest tourist periods in the region, offering the perfect opportunity for visitors to combine world-class whale watching with a first taste of padel. Looking ahead, the festive season will provide even more chances to grow the sport’s footprint in the Overberg.
